my big splurge of the day was for eight candlewick hobnail salad plates (see the bottom left photo above). i'm trying to collect a full service for holidays & special occasions, but i've mostly been finding pieces one at a time (see the footed cake stand & platter in the photo), so to find eight plates at the same time, i couldn't pass it up! the plates were marked $14.50 each, but i was able to sneak them out of the vendors hands for $10 each. score! (ahem...just don't tell prince charming!)later that night, bff & her fiance joined prince charming & i for dinner & drinks out on capitol hill. we enjoyed the cool, crisp fall air that has finally hit washington, & the boys patiently listened while we recounted (for the 33rd time that evening, or was it the 37th?) what an amazing time with had with eddie & jaithan.
