what a wonderful weekend.

bff & i had such a great weekend - i can't help but gush! saturday morning, we were up bright & early & out the door to go meet eddie ross & jaithan kocher! they could not have been more lovely. eddie walked us through the dc big flea market, explaining how to identify fine silver & crystal, & giving us some of the greatest decorating ideas i've heard in a long time. check out some of my photos below - we found the greatest goodies!my big splurge of the day was for eight candlewick hobnail salad plates (see the bottom left photo above). i'm trying to collect a full service for holidays & special occasions, but i've mostly been finding pieces one at a time (see the footed cake stand & platter in the photo), so to find eight plates at the same time, i couldn't pass it up! the plates were marked $14.50 each, but i was able to sneak them out of the vendors hands for $10 each. score! (ahem...just don't tell prince charming!)

later that night, bff & her fiance joined prince charming & i for dinner & drinks out on capitol hill. we enjoyed the cool, crisp fall air that has finally hit washington, & the boys patiently listened while we recounted (for the 33rd time that evening, or was it the 37th?) what an amazing time with had with eddie & jaithan. thank you eddie & jaithan for such a lovely day - we can't wait for you to come back!

  1. What a fabulous trip!!! That Naval Academy China has given me an idea...you see, my father is a graduate of the academy ('66). My mother is about to remodel their kitchen and so far, her design inspiration is some blue and white Spode. I'll have to track some of that china down and give it to her for Christmas! How often is the flea market open? My parents will be in Annapolis in two weeks...I might have to send them!

  2. Oh what fun good times!!!

I briefly went to the Allaire Park flea (my first time) on Saturday. I'm saving for a mini vacation so I behaved. :-) But cute things. Now I will think of you whenever I see glass hobnail!
