love this article about the real gidget over at coastal living. it's safe to say i've seen every gidget film, episode, etc. that i could get my hands on. i think it's delightful how she got the name, 'gidget'.
"All the fellows had nicknames in Malibu: Moondoggie, Golden Boy, Beetle, the Jaw. One day one of the guys called me 'Gidget.' He said I was a girl and a midget. [She's 5 feet, 1 inch tall.] The name stuck."
